Firearms Licensing

New Applications

Applications will only be accepted in person by the Licensing Officer on Tuesday's and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on a first come first serve basis.  Applications cannot be left at the front window.

Please note: Due to the influx of License to Carry Firearms (LTC) and Firearms Identification Card (FID) applications, there may be a significant delay in receiving your license.

First time applying for a License to Carry Firearms (LTC)

    You will need to bring with you:

  • Your driver's license or state issued identification card.

  • Fully completed, signed application

  • Application fee of $100.00, check or money order (no cash), made payable to The City of Fall River.

  • Two letters of reference.  They must be signed and include the name, address and phone number of the person giving the reference.

  • A copy of your Massachusetts approved firearms training safety course certificate.

  • Naturalization Certificate if you are a naturalized citizen, or Green Card if you are a resident alien.

The Fall River Police Department only issues un-restricted Class A Licenses (All Lawful Purposes).

First time applying for a Firearms Identification Card (FID)

    You will need to bring with you:​

  • Your driver's license or state issued identification card.

  • Fully completed, signed application

  • Application fee of $100.00, check or money order (no cash), made payable to The City of Fall River.

  • A copy of your Massachusetts approved firearms-training  safety course certificate.

  • Naturalization Certificate if you are a naturalized citizen, or Green Card if you are a resident alien.

First time applying for a Restricted Defensive Spray FID Card

    Restricted Defensive Spray FID's are only issued to 15 - 17 year old's.  Not required for 18+ year old.

    You will need to bring with you:​

  • Your driver's license or state issued identification card.

  • Fully completed, signed application

  • Application fee of $100.00, check or money order (no cash), made payable to The City of Fall River.

  • Naturalization Certificate if you are a naturalized citizen, or Green Card if you are a resident alien.
