The Fall River Police Athletic League (P.A.L.)

The Fall River Police Athletic League (P.A.L.) Floor Hockey Program has found a new home at 126 Hartwell St. Fall River (The Old Silvia School). For the last 40 years the program was housed at the former Fall River Police Headquarters at 158 Bedford Street. Due to the condition of the building, the program needed to find a new location for its 270 youths who make-up 24 teams and range in age ages 6 to 14 yrs old. P.A.L. President Charles Cullen along with Mayor Edward M. Lambert Jr. and School Grounds and Service Supervisor Dan Rapoza worked together to find the new location.

President Charles Cullen has appointed Larry Ferreira, a 17 yr. Veteran of the Fall River Police Department, as the new director of the program. Larry has an extensive background in ice and floor hockey .He played in the P.A.L. program as a youth from 1972 to 1981 and continues to play to ice and floor hockey today. Larry, Assistant Director Tony Bonanca and Player Representative Rick Sousa met with coaches, and the abbreviated season was started in early Feb. 2004.

"With the support of the coaches, players and parents the season has been a great success." Larry said "The kids are playing hard and working hard to win their respective championship. The parents have been nothing but supportive of our program and coaches have been great with the kids as well as the transformation."

Larry also would like to point out some new ideas that have been implemented:

  1. Coaches Board
  2. Upgrading Safety Equipment
  3. Updating Rules
  4. Additional Fundraising
  5. Coaches Cup Tournament
  6. Upgrading Banquet & Award Ceremony

Once again thank you for your continued support with the league and hope to see at the rink. Hopefully this web site will assist you with scheduling, standings and league info.
