Firearms Licensing

You must apply in person on Tuesdays, between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Bring the completed application and all of the requested information. Incomplete or partial applications will not be accepted.

If this is the first time you are applying for a License to Carry Firearms (LTC) You will need to bring with you:
  • Your driver’s license.
  • Application fee of $100.00, check or money (no cash), made payable to The City of Fall River.
  • A Copy of your Massachusetts approved firearms-training course certificate.           
  • A letter requesting a License to Carry Firearms, state the reasons why you are requesting a LTC.
  • Two letters of reference. They must be signed and include the name, address and phone number of the person giving the reference.           

Licenses are issued with the following restrictions:

  • Sporting - No additional requirements
  • None (All Lawful Purposes) – You must demonstrate a need for an un-restricted LTC in your letter.

   If this is the first time you are applying for a Firearms Identification Card (FID)
          You will need to bring with you:

  • Your driver’s license.
  • Application fee of $100.00, check or money order (no cash), made payable to The City of Fall River.
  • A Copy of your Massachusetts approved firearms-training course certificate.

   If this is the first time you are applying for a Restricted Mace/Pepper Spray FID Card
       You will need to bring with you:

  • Your driver’s license.
  • Application fee of $25.00, check or money order (no cash), made payable to The City of Fall River.

   To renew your License to Carry Firearms or Firearms Identification Card
        You will need to bring with you:

  • Your driver’s license.
  • Application fee of $100.00, check or money order (no cash), made payable to The City of Fall River.
  • Your License to Carry Firearms and/or Firearms Identification Card.

   To renew your Restricted Mace/Pepper Spray FID Card
         You will need to bring with you:

  • Your driver’s license.
  • Your Mace/Pepper Spray Firearms Identification Card.
